Broomstick Bound: Spring Cleaning Rituals & Craft Night with Juniper Deadwick
Tuesday, April 28th at 6pm, $50/person
Spring cleaning is a tradition that is so prevalent that it transcends religion and culture. At the end of winter, it is good to rid the home and residents of what served them well for survival but may no longer be needed (declutter) and also cleanse the air and surfaces of any illness from the previous season. The broom, or besom, is both an ordinary household cleaning tool AND a magical tool for spiritual cleansing, boundary setting, and neutralizing the home. (NOT for riding, which is a myth that came about in history to demonize and stereotype witches/pagans.)
In this workshop, guests will craft their own witch's brooms while discussing some of the history, global folklore and superstitions, and modern uses. We will also cover some rituals that can be applied in the home as we do our own cleaning. Supplies will be provided, but attendees are welcome to bring any plants, crystals, charms, or cording that they so wish to incorporate.
Juniper Deadwick is a hedge witch with a passion for folklore and mythology. Her primary interests include herbs, household magic, animal allies, and ancestor/spirit work. She loves calling upon the spirits of plants, animal allies, the dead, and otherworldly beings, in both ritual and day-to-day.
This class will take place in the Deadwick's Common Room. It begins at 6pm and will run for approximately one hour and a half hours. Please enter through the front of Deadwick's upon arrival, at 19 Sheafe St. and allow time for parking. Please call us at 603-319-6946 if you are running late.
